Beaver Lake, Arkansas

July 20, 2021

Beaver Lake is a reservoir behind a dam across the White River in the Ozark Mountains in NW Arkansas and it just happens to be about 10 miles from our new home - well, at least some of it is!  The lake has about 487 miles of shoreline, is about 50 miles long and covers almost 32,000 acres.  The area boasts towering limestone bluffs, natural caves, gorgeous trees and is great for boating, fishing and just about any outdoor sport to can imagine.

We drove through Rogers and joined Arkansas 12 to arrive at a finger of the lake.   The camp grounds and picnic areas seem to be controlled by the US Army Corps of Engineers and are all reserved through www.recreation.gov.

We stopped at Rocky Branch Park and paid a daily use fee of $5.00 and we were helped by a delightful gentleman who directed us to the cleanest restroom and told us about all the things we would love on our drive around the park loop.  He also mentioned he likes South Carolina more than Arkansas.  LOL

We really enjoyed our very brief visit to the lake and look forward to returning - I think War Eagle will be next stop!
