9/20/2020 - There are so many places to explore in our area and we are determined to visit all of them!!! Both of these beautiful places are within 5 miles of our home and located just outside Beaverton on Cooper Mountain.
Jenkins Estate - the 68 acre property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a popular location for weddings and important photo shoots! There are two miles of gorgeous trails, over an acre of rhododendrons, a herb garden and amazing landscaping creating a perfect picture in every direction!! The buildings were once a summer home and are impeccably maintained! We really enjoyed our walk around the property - it is located on the side of Cooper Mountain so the walk became a hike in places!
Cooper Mountain Nature Park - this amazing park is huge with over 230 acres and about 3 miles of trails traversing the various habitats of the area including conifer forest, prairie and oak woodlands. There are breathtaking wide open spaces and amazing views of the Chehalem Mountains. We didn't stay very long because we were getting hungry and anxious to head on down the hill to ....
Midway Firehouse Pizza - this local ‘joint’ has the best food!! We love the pepperoni chips - pizza and paninis are amazing - too much food - serve yourself - sort of - nice folks - very comfortable and enjoyable!
The most difficult time of the day was driving home - about 5 miles - tired and simply stuffed from lunch. Thank you son, for taking us to one of your favorite local haunts!
