MULTNOMAH FALLS - OUR FAVORITE PLACE

9/30/2020 - We finally got to visit our favorite place since the Pandemic hit and everything was closed down.  We often visit the falls on weekday mornings - after traffic and enjoy one of their delicious breakfasts while looking up through the glass ceiling of the restaurant at the magnificent falls!

The parking lot, restaurant and restroom facilities were closed, then slowly services have been restored.  We had trouble finding out exactly what to expect as the web site and telephone recording told different stories.  So - we just drove out there and this is what we found.

.  plenty of parking

.  restaurant closed but take out (very limited) available during also limited hours

.  restrooms closed but there are dozens of port a potties in the close up parking lot

.  coffee stand open with outdoor tables

.  all trails leading up and away from the bottom of the falls closed

.  gift shop open to a couple of people at a time - very confusing as the ordering line for the take out    empties into the gift shop!  lol

We did, however, find the falls are still magnificent and  very well worth the drive!

On the way back we stopped at the Lewis and Clark State Recreation Site near Troutdale and had a lovely walk .  The park is situated where the Sandy River flows into the Columbia.  The beaches, rivers and forest areas are gorgeous!  This is a very popular spot in the summer as you might imagine but on this day in late September - we had it all to ourselves!
